Kobe Kitano Museum
Kitano Museum uses a historic building of former consulate of United States built in 1898. It was constructed in 1898 as a foreign residence, and used as the consulate of United States after World WarⅡuntil 1978. Kobe Kitano Museum opened one year after Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake occured in 1995. Today, it holds “Painters of Montmartre – Kobe Kitano and Paris Montmartre’s Friendship Exhibition.” It exhibits historical items of Kobe Kitano and about first government-owned olive grove. Kitano Museum that serves as offices of KITANO-YAMAMOTO Historical Landmark Preservation Commission and International Olive Academy Kobe introduces you the history and culture of Kobe Kitano district and promotes its chram.
